Home Talent League: Utica falls to Cambridge in walk-off
Utica dropped a pitchers’ duel as Cambridge slid by the Association in a walk-off win 4-3 on Sunday, July 21, at Racetrack Park in Edgerton. Utica (10-2) is the regular season champion of the Home Talent League’s Southeast Section South Division. The Association has two more Sunday League games to play before the playoffs. Utica was coming off an 11-8 loss to Stoughton in the Night League on Thursday, July 18, at Norse Park in Stoughton. The Association dropped to 2-4 in the Night League.

My office in Oriskany has a lot of pictures from the past. Since I also function as the president of the alumni association, we have a lot of old school mementoes. The other day, I happened to be looking at a pic of the 1948 mixed chorus at OCS. There were about 48 of them. Those days are long gone. What was evident, though, was how well-dressed and “normal” looking those kids were. Nice white dresses on the girls and slacks, white shirt and ties on the boys. I miss those days. This was long before fast foods and soda pop began to erode our national visage.
