Paris Station To Open In Historic Downtown Building July 4
Paris, Tenn.–Paris Station, a new brewery at 304 W. Washington St. in downtown Paris, will host its grand opening from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. The building is an historic landmark. Over the years, the building has housed the Somerville Mule & Horse Livery, which later became automobile dealerships such as Porter Chevrolet, as well as the Baxter Clark Furniture store, and is now receiving new life as a downtown Paris brewery, restaurant and event center.
Area Fireworks Displays To Celebrate 4th Of July
If you love fireworks, you’ll have plenty to choose from on July 4, with numerous fireworks displays planned for our area. Paris Landing State Park and the Paris-Henry County Jaycees will hold its annual fireworks display around 9 p.m. The fireworks will be set off in the beach area.
Cottage Grove 49th Freedom Festival Set

Cottage Grove, Tenn.–The Cottage Grove 49th 4th of July Freedom Festival will be held all day Thursday, July 4 and as usual, it will be chock full of activities to celebrate Independence Day. The festival features a parade that starts at 10 a.m., followed by the cake walk, corn hole contest, cake walk, great grilled burgers and ice cream, International Firehouse supper, a vendor show, games on the walking trail, DJ and music.
West Tennessee volunteers return home from Costa Rica
JACKSON, Tenn. — Students from Bruceton, Huntingdon, Camden and Memphis discovered that summer in the U.S. means rainy season in steamy tropical Costa Rica. But armed with serving hearts and good senses of humor, participants in the latest Global Citizen Adventure Corps program overcame the weather and interacted with children who needed their attention, erected a fence and secured habitats for animals needing protection, and even squeezed in a lesson in softball.
