The 2002 Winter Olympic cauldron was extinguished on Feb. 24 after a stunning 17 days in Salt Lake City, Park City and the wider region. By the next day there was already talk of the state at some point hosting a second Games. And by the one-year anniversary, in 2003, hopes had started for a return of the Games as early as 2018.
