SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A driver was killed in a crash early Thursday morning while allegedly racing another vehicle in Park City, according to the Utah Dept. of Public Safety .

At around 1:40 a.m. on July 18, a male driver, 29, was heading southbound on SR-224 in a black 2019 Subaru WRX.

The driver was reportedly near milepost 6 when his vehicle “left its lane of travel to the right” and struck a tree, a press release from DPS states.

This grass can go weeks without water — and Utah just approved it

The WRX caught fire and became fully engulfed, and the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.

“A witness reported the WRX was racing another vehicle. Local agencies are in the process of tracking down the other vehicle involved,” DPS stated.

SR-224 was closed in both directions until around 6 a.m., police said.
