PHILLPS — The defendant in a Park Falls homicide case made his initial appearance in Price County Circuit Court on June 4.

Christopher Dyer, 50, who is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, appeared in custody before Price County Judge Kevin G. Klein. Price County District Attorney Matthew McElroy appeared for the prosecution.

The two state appointed public defenders to represent Dyer are Bayley Waller and Christopher Restemayer, both attorneys out of Merrill. Restemayer was present for the hearing, acknowledged the criminal complaint filed on May 29, and requested a preliminary hearing.

According to a Wisconsin Department of Justice — Division of Criminal Investigation press release on April 24, Dyer is charged for the shooting death of a Park Falls woman on April 13. According to Price County Sheriff’s Office call logs, a neighbor called 911 to report that his male neighbor had shot his female neighbor in their front yard.

Dyer continues to be held on $1 million bond with a pre-trial hearing scheduled for July 1.
