Tornado confirmed in Davenport from Monday’s storms
The National Weather Service in the Quad Cities has confirmed a tornado hit Davenport during last night’s storms. Meteorologist Brian Pierce says they don’t know the full extent of the damage or the exact time the tornado touched down, but they do know with some confidence the size and scope of the tornado.
Camp Albrecht Acres Sustains Heavy Storm Damage
We are finding out a location in Dubuque County hit hard by yesterday’s storm was Camp Albrect Acres near Sherrill. On their social media pages, camp leaders say all campers are safe, but the camp sustained lots of damage with downed trees falling on some of the buildings and they are still without power and internet service.

Johnson County leaders buy property to be used for affordable housing
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - 15 apartments will soon be available for affordable housing in Iowa City, after a $1.7 million purchase by the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. The property is at 1102 Hollywood Boulevard and includes two-bedroom, one-bathroom, partially furnished, two-story townhomes. The units are newly renovated according to a news release, but still need energy-efficient upgrades before people can move in.
Iowa City man accused of second domestic assault incident
An Iowa City man was arrested Sunday night after an alleged assault on the mother of his two children. The incident reportedly occurred at the Broadway Street residence of 45-year-old Lfils Luvoma at around 7:45pm. According to police, he pushed his girlfriend against the wall. She then attempted to get a phone out of Luvoma’s pants pocket, causing him to reportedly strike her several times in the back.

Community Action to buy Smith building for $1 Winneshiek County
Winneshiek County plans to sell Decorah’s historic Smith building to Northeast Iowa Community Action. During Monday morning’s Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors meeting, NEICAC Director Trisha Wilkins reported that the NEICAC Board of Directors recently approved the purchase of the Smith building – located at 305 Montgomery St. – from the county for $1.
