Community rallies against Sullivan prison closure (VIDEO)
WOODBOURNE – Opposition to the closing of the maximum security Sullivan Correctional Facility on November 6 rallied at the Woodbourne Fire Department on Wednesday hoping to convince Governor Kathy Hochul to reverse her decision. Hochul, following the plan started by disgraced former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who closed 18 prisons in 10 years, has already closed six prisons. The state legislature has Hochul granted permission to close five more facilities.

Legendary trumpeter to play and share hotel tales at Sullivan County Museum
HURLEYVILLE- On Sunday afternoon, August 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., trumpeter Freddie Jacobs will perform at the Sullivan County Museum with the Americana band Little Sparrow. Jacobs is a composer, educator and jazz trumpeter who has been in the music business for over 50 years. He has toured with jazz legends Lionel Hampton, Buddy Rich, Eddie Palmieri and Jimmy McGriff, and performed around New York with the Sam Jones/Tom Harrell Band and Pucho and the Latin Soul Brothers. He has also written and produced two records: “Time Change” and “Jacobs’ Ladder.”
