UPDATE: A mother and daughter are being held at the Canyon County Jail facing charges connected to a July 12 homicide at Martin Landing campground near Parma.
35-year-old Melissa Calumpit and 59-year-old Rosalie Morris, both from Battle Mountain, Nevada, are each being held on a $2 million bond after their arraignment on Friday, July 19, one week after the alleged crime.
On July 12, 37-year-old Travis Haywood Calumpit was found dead from a gunshot wound. Six days later, the two women were arrested for their suspected involvement in the homicide.
Calumpit and Morris are accused of driving to Idaho from Nevada specifically to murder the victim. Prosecutors say they lured Travis Calumpit to the campground, fatally shot him, then disposed of evidence.
At their July 19 arraignment, Melissa Calumpit was charged with two felonies for first-degree murder and destruction, alteration, or concealment of evidence. Morris is charged with aiding and abetting both first-degree murder and destruction of evidence.
If convicted, the two could face the death penalty or life in prison.
Court records show Melissa and Travis divorced in 2018. The family says the couple's three children have been living with Melissa in Nevada.
The two women have court appearances in the coming weeks. Calumpit will return for a preliminary hearing on July 26. Morris will return to court on August 2.
