    IGHL, Patchogue Village, Knapp-Swezey partner on home project

    Independent Group Home Living (IGHL), which is dedicated to supporting those living with developmental and intellectual disabilities, is collaborating with the Village of Patchogue, Knapp-Swezey Foundation and Island Outreach Foundation to break ground on a new group home in Patchogue. The12-bedroom home is being constructed by Bob Conklin of The Flagg Group and was designed by Jerry Rumplick of AIA.

    Upon completion of the home, its residents will include members of the Bennett Family who, in addition to four biological children, adopted 13 children with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, including Down Syndrome, many years ago.

     

    Concert raises $45K for Stony Brook Ronald McDonald House

    More than 200 guests attended a gala benefit concert hosted by the Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro at the John W. Engeman Theater in Northport. The event was held to support the capital campaign to build a new Ronald McDonald House at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. $45,000 was raised toward the effort.

    Featured performances included singer Anthony Nunziata, as well as Leah Laurenti. Inventor and entrepreneur Joy Mangano was the evening’s emcee.

    Construction for the Ronald McDonald House in Stony Brook is set to begin this year, with an expected opening in 2026.

     

    Jefferson’s Ferry holds ribbon cutting for new neighborhood

    Jefferson’s Ferry Life Plan Community hosted a “soft opening” of its new memory support neighborhood and assisted living upgrades. Known as “The Grove,” the new addition was welcomed by community residents, family members, supporters and Jefferson’s Ferry board trustees.

    The Grove will be home to 20 residents inhabiting private studio apartments. A variety of community spaces include an activities room, den, dining room and outdoor porch and garden, creating an inviting living space for socializing.



    Legislator Solages celebrates Inwood apartments groundbreaking

    Nassau County Legislator Carri Solages joined with the Inwood community to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new residential building geared toward veterans and first responders.Situated near the Long Island Rail Road station at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Russell Place, the five-story, 48-unit building is the vision of Rev. Isaiah Moultrie, Sr., a retired U.S. Marine. The construction is being spearheaded by his son, Isaiah Jr., a developer.

    The 11.7-acre site where the complex is being developed formerly housed Rev. Moultrie’s church prior to his retirement.
