Southern Illinois State Parks Shut Down Due to Flash Flooding
East St. Louis, IL – Several southern Illinois state parks are experiencing total closures or road closures due to flash flooding over the past 24 hours. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Frank Holten State Park in East St. Louis is currently closed to all visitors due to severe flooding. The closures are a precaution to ensure visitor safety as water levels continue to rise.

For many parts of the Quad Cities, stoplights are out and power companies are working hard to restore power to those affected by what has been classified as a derecho. Some roads remain closed due to flooding
Salem Township Road Commissioner Joe Telford says all roads crossing Crooked Creek, which includes, Robin, South College, South Hotze, South Hoots Chapel and West Line Road remain flooded Wednesday morning. He notes West Line Road is the designated detour for the Odin Road Bridge construction but cannot be used for that purpose until further notice.
