Two of the South Shore's most successful high school sports teams will have new coaches this upcoming year.

Kara Connerty , one of the longest-standing local coaching figures, has resigned from her positions leading the Norwell High girls soccer and girls lacrosse teams, the school's athletic department confirmed to The Patriot Ledger on Wednesday. Connerty said she filed her resignation on Tuesday.

Connerty, a Norwell High alum, took over the Clippers' girls lacrosse team in 2010 and the girls soccer team in 2011 . The two teams won a combined eight state championships under her watch (five in girls lacrosse -- 2010, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018; and three in girls soccer -- 2018, 2021, 2023).

"Coaching in the town I grew up has been extremely rewarding and a positive experience," Connerty said. "I have truly enjoyed working with countless student athletes and their families over the past 15 years. At this time, I’m going to pursue other coaching opportunities.”

The girls soccer team is coming off a 23-1-1 season last fall that ended in a Division 3 state championship win , the third in program history.

The girls lacrosse team finished this spring with a 12-10 record against some of the state's best competition and a trip to the Division 4 Final Four as the No. 7 seed.

Prior to the MIAA tournament, Connerty co-coached (along with Notre Dame Academy's Meredith Frank McGinnis) a Massachusetts/Rhode Island high school lacrosse All-Star team to a title win at the USA Lacrosse Women's National Tournament in North Carolina.

She currently coaches club lacrosse for Mass Elite.

“I’m not sure what the opportunities that are out there, but I’m definitely looking forward to continue my coaching career," she said.
