    Want to save a few bucks at the Marshfield Fair? What to know before you go

    MARSHFIELD – A lot of calculations go into picking a day to go to the Marshfield Fair .

    The weather, work schedules, appointments and things already on the calendar are all factors. But when you go — and even when your buy your tickets – can save a few bucks and maybe help cover an extra fried treat or two during the fair's 10-day run.

    The fair, which begins Friday, Aug. 16, and runs through Sunday, Aug. 25, offers several ways to receive discounted or free admission.

    Buy your Marshfield Fair tickets early and get a discount

    Admission to the fair is $15 and free for children ages 6 and younger. Presale tickets for $12 are available until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, online , by calling 781-834-6629 or by visiting the administration office until 5 p.m.

    The fair's megapass costs $45 in advance, or $60 starting Aug. 16, and can be used for any one day of the fair. It covers admission and an unlimited mechanical ride for one day of your choice.

    Discounts days for vets, residents, seniors and kids

    The fair also offers several discount days for qualifying attendees.

    • EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders can purchase up to four gate admission tickets for $7 each.Purchases must be made at the Fair Office at 140 Main St., Marshfield, by Thursday, Aug. 15. EBT, WIC or ConnectorCare card must be shown at time of purchase.
    • Friday, Aug. 16 and 23, are Marshfield residents days, meaning residents can get in between noon and 6 p.m. for $8 with proof of residency.
    • Saturday, Aug. 17, is veterans day and any veteran or active-duty service member with proper identification will receive free admission.
    • Tuesday, Aug. 20, is senior citizen day with free admission for seniors.
    • 4-H and agricultural awareness day is Wednesday, Aug. 21. 4-H members who wear their Plymouth County 4-H T-shirts are admitted free.
    • Children’s day is Thursday, Aug. 22, when children 12 and younger get in for free.

    The Marshfield Fairs is open from noon to 10 p.m. daily at the Marshfield Fairgrounds on Route 3A. The calendar of events is at Marshfieldfair.org .
