Countdown to Kickoff (Edition 18): Nate Mettler takes over the reins at Gallia Academy
GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WCHS) — Nate Mettler takes over a Blue Devil program that won a playoff game in Ohio's Division 4 last year under Kole Carter. "We lost a lot of it to the senior class very talented senior class," Mettler said. "We're bringing back a large sophomore junior class, a very talented group I would say, but we're also very young. There comes difficulties and challenges along with that as well."

RIVER VALLEY SCHOOL BOARD VOTES TO TEMPORARILY HOST FOOTBALL GAMES AT ERNIE WIDMAR FIELD
The question of where River Valley football games will be held this year was answered at Tuesday night’s school board meeting. By a 4-to-3 vote, the board approved temporarily holding home games at Ernie Widmar Field until the new athletic complex is ready at the Blairsville campus, which is expected to be September 6th. They also approved a motion to hold practices at the Saltsburg campus for the rest of the week, then have the team practice on the new turf field starting on Monday.

The Alliance Aviators will start their season against the Waterloo Vikings. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Last Saturday, neither Waterloo nor Waynedale could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The outcome might've been different if Zach Mignano hadn't been hit with a yellow card, which no doubt limited his ability to make aggressive plays down the stretch.
