Eight places around Minneapolis for beer, wine, and spirits connoisseurs

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The southwest corner of Minneapolis is well-known for its many attractions, such as the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. Recently, those area has become a sweet spot for beer, wine, and spirits connoisseurs.

Designate or hire a driver to get to the eight establishments in Wayzata and Waconia and sample some of the local drinks available in each location.

One, the Excelsior Brewing Company has quickly become a favorite in the town of Grand Rapids. Its taproom is a great place to relax after a day of exploring the area.

Two, Waconia Brewing is the region's first brewery since 1890. It features a variety of hop varieties and a rotating list of seasonal offerings.

Three, Parley Lake Winery features several varieties of grapes, including the Frontenac Gris. It's located near the Parley Lake Park Reserve, which features hiking trails and cross-country skiing.

Four, Wayzata Brew Works features a patio and large windows that give Lake Minnetonka views.

Five, the 20,000-square-foot Enki headquarters in Victoria features an outdoor beer garden and a taproom. Their full range of brews is available in the pub and on draft.

Six, Sovereign Estates features a variety of fine wines and fine food. The elegant restaurant is located inside the vineyard.

Seven, located in the heart of Wisconsin's wine country, Schram Vineyards Winery & Brewery is the first combination winery and brewery. This farm-to-table restaurant features a rotating selection of Wisconsin's finest beer and wines.

Eight, located in Waconia, the J. Carver Distillery was named after Jonathan Carver. He was one of the first Europeans to visit the area in 1766.
