PAULLINA, Iowa (KCAU) — No injuries were reported when officials arrived at a residence in rural Paullina after a caller allegedly made threats and claimed to have shot someone.

The O’Brien County communications center received a call Thursday around 9:57 a.m. from a person saying they shot someone and would “commit further acts of violence against other individuals and responding law enforcement,” a release from the sheriff’s office said.

Law enforcement responded to where the call was believed to have come from, which was a residence at 4532 Redwood Avenue about two miles northeast of Paullina. Authorities alerted nearby homes and businesses, and the Mill Creek Campground was evacuated.

The occupants of 4532 Redwood Avenue were safely secured. No one was injured despite the caller’s claim.

Officials say that there is no further danger to public safety. An investigation is still underway.
