Northern Illinois University Vice President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier on Friday announced three promotions within his executive team. Matt Gonzalez has been added to NIU’s senior staff and promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director of Facilities and Events; Courtney Vinson has been promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director of Sports Administration/Senior Woman Administrator while Lisa DeRango has been promoted to Executive Associate Athletic Director of Human Resources & Finance Administration.

Mt. Vernon teen charged with three counts of aggravated battery following incident at St. Mary’s Hospital
A 19-year-old Mt. Vernon teen has been charged in Marion County Court with three counts of aggravated battery following an altercation at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. Alana Schmidt of Richview Road was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a private security officer after allegedly pushing two security officers with her hand. The third count is for aggravated battery to a nurse for allegedly striking a nurse at the hospital in the jaw with her hand.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - A 22-year-old from Elgin is cited after a rollover crash outside of Hinckley sent multiple people to the hospital. Just after 5 a.m. July 12, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on Rimsnider Road, north of Miller Road. Investigators say the driver was speeding southbound when the vehicle went into a ditch, rolled over multiple times and landed upside down.
