Big Ten Football Media Days starts Tuesday in Indianapolis and runs through Thursday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Nebraska will be front and center for the media on Wednesday, starting at 11:30am Lincoln time, with Head Coach Matt Rhule, along with Ben Scott on offense and Isaac Gifford and Ty Robinson from the Husker defense. KFOR’s Chris Schmidt will be there Tuesday and Wednesday.
Teen Could Be Linked to April Train Derailment in Bennet
BENNET–(KFOR July 22)–BNSF Police believe recording equipment belonging to a 17-year-old could have evidence linking him to an April 21 train derailment in Bennet. Through a search warrant affidavit, it says the teen recorded the train derailment, which involved two locomotives and five cars, and an empty coal car being hit. It caused $350,000 in damage. But investigators say a switch had been tampered with, and the padlock securing it was missing. One investigator talked to the teen, who said he was a railroad enthusiast and takes videos of trains to put them on social media.

Lincoln man sentenced after drugs found in vehicle and home
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln man will spend the next 20 years behind bars after investigators found drugs in his vehicle and one of his homes. Judge John Gerrard sentenced 39-year-old Aaron Gonzales on Monday for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, 500 grams or more of meth mixture, and unspecified amounts of cocaine and marijuana; and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of meth actual. Each count will run concurrently. Once he is released from prison, he will begin a five-year term of supervised release.

Hastings man dies while in-custody of the Adams County Jail
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - A Hastings man has died while in custody at the Adams County Jail. The Adams County Attorney’s Office and the Adams County Sheriff’s Department issued a joint statement confirming 55-year-old James Knight, Jr. was found unresponsive in his cell shortly before 5 a.m. Medical personnel were called to the scene and pronounced him dead.
