Eastland basketball takes revenge over Pecatonica
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The Eastland Cougars and Pecatonica Indians faced off in a sectional championship rematch game, in Pecatonica’s varsity summer league on Wednesday. The game started off back-and-forth with both teams exchanging leads, but that was until Eastland senior Adam Awender showed some grit and put the team on his back. Awender was all over the floor troubling the Indians’ defense and that was all it came down to.

Hard Rock Casino Rockford holds hiring event
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Hard Rock Casino Rockford is hiring cooks, servers and chefs for the six restaurants inside the new casino before it opens in August. Hard Rock is also offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus for cooks, chefs and kitchen workers with $500 paid upon hire and $500 after 90 days on the job.
RRVBC needs all blood types before 4th of July weekend, creates new incentives
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - The Rock River Valley Blood Center says it needs all blood types ahead of the Fourth of July weekend. The RRVBC has been facing a critical blood shortage since May. The blood center says it typically loses 120 units of donated blood over the Independence Day weekend, due to its holiday closure and the weekend being a busy trauma time for hospitals.
