Freeport police investigate shots fired incidents
FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - Police in Freeport ask for help as they investigate three separate gunshot alerts in one night. Just before 2 a.m. July 21, a Freeport officer said they heard gunshots in the 700 block of S. Liberty Avenue and the 800 block of S. Carroll Avenue. Both locations generated an alert from the gunshot detection system, Sound Thinking (formerly known as ShotSpotter). There were no reported injuries or damage, but police say they found evidence that a gun was fired at both locations.
