Vols climb back into top 10 of recruiting rankings after beating Georgia for Christian Gass
Football could be heating back up on the recruiting trail after landing another commitment to complete a big-time win against an SEC rival. The Vols made a second addition to their 2025 class in July on Saturday afternoon when four-star linebacker/edge Christian Gass, the standout defender at Eastside High School in Covington, Ga., announced his commitment to Tennessee, which he picked over Georgia and Southern California after taking official visits to those three schools plus Kentucky and Florida earlier this summer. Landing Gass saw Tennessee climb several spots in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings and return to a place in the top 10 – with some elite targets still to announce in the coming weeks.
U.S. women's national soccer team to face Iceland at Geodis Park in October
The United States women's national soccer team is headed back to Nashville. The USWNT will host Iceland at Geodis Park on Oct. 27 (4:30 p.m. CT) in its second match following the Paris Olympics. The match will be televised on TNT, Max, Telemundo and Peacock. It's the second of a two-game series with Iceland, with the first game set for Oct. 24 in Austin, Texas.

Numerous teams played at historic Sulpher Dell, located just north of Tennessee’s state capital building, from 1885 to 1963. Most notable among these teams were the Southern Association’s Nashville Vols, who called Sulpher Dell home from 1901 to 1963. When the Vols disbanded after the 1963 season, Nashville was left without pro baseball for 14 years.
