Former Elkton Mayor battling cancer
Former Elkton Mayor Nancy Camp has announced that she has cancer. That’s according to a post on social media, where Camp states that she went to the hospital in December for bad pain, and doctors discovered an aggressive cancer that had spread—that cancer was classified as stage four. She has since been in treatment with Dr. Murray and staff at Jennie Start Health.

NWS Paducah declares Todd County as StormReady
Todd County is officially Storm Ready, and the National Weather Service in Paducah made a visit to Todd County Fiscal Court recently to make the presentation. Warning Coordination Meteorologist Christine Wielgos says a community has to accomplish quite a lot to be designated as Storm Ready, including having more than one way to receive severe weather warnings and alerts, creating a system that monitors weather conditions locally, developing formal hazardous weather plans and more. She says Todd County accomplished all of that and more and she’s proud of the steps that have been taken to protect lives.
More Than 41,000 Attend Western Kentucky State Fair
More than 41,000 visitors passed through the gates of the Western Kentucky State Fair this year. Fair board President Brad Hewell says 6,245 patrons attended the fair Saturday night for the UCW Wrestling and the final night of the Mid-South Truck and Tractor Pulls. Total fair attendance was 41,384, which was down from 2,672 visitors in 2023. Hewell said they were very satisfied with fair attendance this year considering there were no events at the grandstand on opening night and the fair was rained out on Wednesday night.
