    Pensacola man sentenced for killing roommate, staging her death: Florida State Attorney’s Office

    ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. ( WKRG ) — A man was sentenced to prison after he killed his roommate and staged her death as a suicide, according to the Florida State Attorney’s Office.

    James Edward Hicks was sentenced on July 16, 2024, in connection to the death of 65-year-old Terri Jo Williams , State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden said.

    According to court documents, Hicks killed Williams and then staged the scene to make it look as if she had drowned herself in a garden pond in the front yard.

    He was found guilty of second-degree murder in May after an investigation ruled her death was a homicide.

    Hicks now faces life in prison, documents said.
