PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Former Chicago Bears Sherrick McManis is glad to be home.

The Richwoods High School grad was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night at the Peoria Civic Center. McManis had an 11-year NFL career as a defensive back and special teams standout, playing his final nine seasons in his home state with the Bears.

Other individuals in the GPSHOF class who were honored at the induction banquet included former Morton High School wrestling champ Grant Hoerr, former Limestone softball coach Lou Dobrydnia, longtime Peoria Journal State sports editor Kirk Wessler and Dewey Kalmer, all-time wins leader for Bradley University baseball.

Teams inducted into the GPSHOF in this year’s class were the 1980-81 Richwoods High School girls basketball state runner-up, the 1999-2000 Kelly Cup champion Peoria Rivermen, and the Peoria Pirates indoor football champions from 2000 and 2002.
