Prep sports recap for April 22, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — East Peoria scored six runs in the seventh inning to beat host Washington, 12-8, in a wild Mid-Illini Conference baseball game on Monday.

RJ Duncheon had a double and a triple and knocked in three runs. And Owen Hidden had four hits and knocked in three runs in the come-from-behind win.

Dunlap and Morton won games with outstanding starting pitching. Jack Piper threw a one-hit shutout for Dunlap in a 9-0 win at Canton while Ryan Schaffnit scattered six hits and struck out 10 in a 6-0 win over visiting Limestone.

Normal Community, Brimfield-Elmwood, Dee-Mack and Peoria Christian were among the other winners in baseball on Monday. East Peoria and Illini Bluffs won in softball.
