Peoria Music Live is still in the early planning stages of organizing a fall music festival scheduled for October 20. Even the event’s very name, PML Takeover, is tentative.

But Peoria Music Live founder and owner Kindall Reuschel believes it will be an event that will attract local music lovers regardless of their preferred sound.

“We’re definitely about musical diversity,” Reuschel said. “We’ll be looking to make sure we’ve got that in the line-up, not just in terms of genre, but in terms of having both male and female artists. We want a good representation of the talent in the area.”

Peoria Music Live is looking to book between 20 and 25 area artists for the festival, Reuschel added. She estimated that about 60 bands have already volunteered. The artists will perform on two stages at the 3300 Events Center at 3300 W. Willow Knolls Drive, Peoria. Performances will begin at 11 a.m. and will continue throughout the day until 10 p.m.

“I want to be able to showcase current talent, and also honor the talent that has performed in that building in the past,” Reuschel said. “Peoria’s music history is pretty cool.”

In addition to greater Peoria area artists, Reuschel is looking to bring in about 20 vendors for PML Takeover to sell food, beverages and crafts. While the schedule is far from finalized, she is also planning to hold silent auctions and raffles, as well as family-friendly activities like a Musical Petting Zoo from the music school Harmonize Peoria.

“They bring out all of the instruments and let people try them,” Reuschel added.

Proceeds from the festival will help fund future Peoria Music Live operations. Reuschel hopes that, with enough support, TML Takeover can become an annual festival.

“Our goal is to get people off their couches and out into the city’s live music scene,” she said. “Doing live music with your neighbors is good for morale, it’s good for community involvement, and it’s good for the area’s economy.”
