PEORIA — The Richwoods Knights might have an incoming star for their girls basketball team. And she's already on the radar for the Bradley Braves women's team .

Kayla Herron announced she's received an offer from Bradley , her second NCAA Division-I offer, following one from Howard on July 9. The 5-foot-7 sophomore point guard played in Indiana last season for Culver Academy, where she appeared in 23 games, scored 221 points, grabbed 101 rebounds and had 44 steals.

She is in Peoria and working through the process of registering at Richwoods High School. That process was not yet complete as school started this week.

If she completes the process she'll join a Richwoods team that is rebuilding. Her brother, junior Marion Herron, was a sixth man for Richwoods' boys team that went to state last season.

"Kayla is a pass-first point guard who can score," Richwoods coach Shamar Hill said. "We've been blessed with some good players, and she's another one. She's very versatile, a great kid. Has one of the best work ethics I've ever seen for a kid her age. She stays in the gym constantly, watches film, gets better.

"When she's on the court she makes everyone better. I think she's going to fit right in."
