Durbin requests federal help for students hurt by recent college closings
Illinois U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin is asking the federal government to help students left in the lurch by the abrupt closings of two Chicago-area colleges this month. In a letter Friday to the U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, Durbin asked that the feds “take immediate action to assist students” of Northwestern College and the American Academy of Art College. Both schools closed in early July, citing financial struggles.

A state senator called Senate Bill 2791 a “good bill.” Senate Bill 2791 never made it out of the spring legislative session, but proponents say it would even the playing field for small businesses […]

Connection between QB Williams, WR Allen could be the key to the Bears improving
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Staying at the same hotel during minicamp, Keenan Allen and Caleb Williams had extra time to get to know one another. Chicago’s new receiver and prized quarterback helped each other learn the playbook when they weren’t either watching the NBA playoffs or playing Monopoly Deal. The connection between the six-time Pro Bowler and the No. 1 overall draft pick could go a long way toward determining whether the Bears make a much-anticipated jump.

Bears Veteran Free Agent Signing Lands on Injury List With Undisclosed Issue
The Chicago Bears will begin their 2024 training camp without one of their most notable veteran free agent signings in the fold due to an unknown injury. According to the team’s official transaction wire for July 19, the Bears placed veteran tight end Gerald Everett on the active/non-football injury list with an undisclosed injury on Friday after he and the Bears’ other veteran players reported for camp.
Blackhawks Daily: ESPN Again Shows its Contempt for Hockey
The NHL has nationally been on ESPN for a few years now alongside TNT. It is a different feel than it was when NBC had exclusive national rights in the US because ESPN and TNT have very different styles. ESPN has been accused by many hardcore hockey fans to “disrespect” hockey for a long time now. It may be fair at times and other times it’s not. They didn’t help their case over the last week with a recent feature they put out.
Bears Start Training Camp With Key Rookie Unable to Practice
The Chicago Bears have placed rookie offensive lineman Kiran Amegadjie on the Non-Football Injury list. NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 was first to report the move. The NFI list is reserved for players whose injuries or ailments did not occur in an NFL practice or during a game. Amegadjie had surgery on October 18 of 2023 to fix a partially torn quadriceps muscle in his final season at Yale. He was never expected to be ready for offseason activities, and training camp was also a question mark, although Bears head coach Matt Eberflus had previously suggested Amegadjie could be ready by now.
