    Jack County crash leaves one teen dead, three injured

    JACK COUNTY ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A crash on Highway 281, north of Perrin, Texas, left one teen dead and three injured on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

    According to Sgt. Juan Gutierrez with Texas DPS, the 2001 Dodge Dakota carrying four teens, was traveling northbound on Highway 281 when it failed to make a curve, causing it to leave the roadway.

    DPS reported that the truck drove into the east borrow ditch in a side skid, struck a fence, then a tree, and rolled onto the driver’s side before finally coming to a rest facing east.

    The driver of the truck, a 16-year-old boy from Paradise, TX, was transported to a Ft. Worth hospital with serious injuries.

    Two other passengers, a 14-year-old girl and another 16-year-old boy, both from Bridgeport, TX, were taken to a nearby hospital in Jacksboro with non-incapacitating injuries.

    The final passenger, a 16-year-old girl, also from Bridgeport, TX, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash. She was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt.
