Police respond to early morning car crash on Cedar Street in Lansing
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Multiple first responders were at the scene of a crash at the 1600 block of Cedar Street early Wednesday morning. The crash happened around 3:30 a.m. News 10 crews were on the scene and said they saw at least one person being evaluated by medical personnel and a vehicle heavily damaged after the crash.

Robert Backus was named Lansing police chief by Mayor Andy Schor. Backus, 45, is a 24-year LPD veteran who served as interim chief since Ellery Sosebee retired in June. An assistant chief for two years, Backus started his law enforcement career with the LPD at age 15 as an Explorer. He graduated from MSU’s criminal justice program and holds a master of science degree in criminal justice administration from Ferris State University. Backus was hired as an LPD cadet in 1999 and sworn in as a police officer after completing the 67th Mid-Michigan Police Academy in 2000.

Multi-township police chase through Mid-Michigan ends in two arrests
LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating a multi-township car chase that ended with two people arrested overnight. At 12:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, MSP said it began in Meridian Township on Jolly Road, where they were chasing a car but stopped the pursuit due to police policy. The car eventually ended up in Lansing, where troopers again attempted to stop it but were unable to.

LANSING, Mich. (FOX 2) - The Lansing police officers who fatally shot a man last year acted in self-defense, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said Monday. As a result, Nessel declined to charge the officers who shot Stephen Romero while responding to a domestic violence situation in the 1600 block of Massachusetts Avenue on Dec. 1, 2023.
Lawsuit alleges Iowa telepharmacy sold fake Ozempic to Michigan company
An Iowa telepharmacy company faces allegations in a civil lawsuit that it sold counterfeit Ozempic, the high-demand weight-loss drug, to a Michigan company. The lawsuit appears to be one of the first of its kind accusing a licensed pharmacy in Iowa of selling customers fake semaglutide. It's an uncommon but increasing problem nationally, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.
