    Peshtigo, Crivitz boys tune up for postseason with conference wins

    Peshtigo 83, Sevastopol 39

    PESHTIGO — Silas Williams erupted for a career-high 30 points as the Peshtigo boys basketball team thrashed Sevastopol 83-39 in Packerland Conference action on Thursday.

    Peshtigo (6-10 Packerland, 12-12 overall) scored more points in the first half (56) than the Pioneers were able to muster the entire game thanks to a 53 percent shooting performance from the floor.

    Will McMahon and Dominik Baxter both poured in 14 points for the Bulldogs. Elliot Proft added nine and Brady Polzin pitched in five.

    Sevastopol (0-16 Packerland, 3-21 overall) did not report any stats at press time.

    OCONTO — Southern Door’s slim first-half lead provided just enough cushion for the Eagles to outlast the Oconto boys basketball team 76-74 in Packerland Conference play on Thursday.

    Southern Door (16-0 Packerland, 20-4 overall) grabbed a 42-40 advantage at halftime and those two points proved to be the difference, as both teams scored 34 points in the second half.

    Drew Daoust dropped a game-high 39 points for the Eagles. Tyler Neinas backed him up with 19 while Caden Pierre contributed 10.

    Carter Koch authored a team-high 29 points for the Blue Devils. Trenton Hartman and Jackson Martin both finished with 14.

    Gillett 77, STAA 45

    GILLETT — Shooting struggles sent the Saint Thomas Aquinas Academy boys basketball team to a 77-45 loss at the hands of Gillett in Thursday’s Marinette and Oconto Conference matchup.

    STAA (4-12 M&O, 9-13 overall) connected on just 34 percent (16-46) of its field goal attempts and was 3-17 (17 percent) from 3-point range.

    Aydin Franti was the Tigers’ leading scorer with 18 points. Jesse DeBauch tallied 14 while Nathan Rowell picked up 12.

    Teagan Anderson led the Cavaliers with 11 points. Caleb Duvall added nine, Dakota Yother scored seven, with Tug Paidl and Kaiden Bailey both pitching in five.

    CRIVITZ —Tegan Werner outdueled Logan Kurth to help the Crivitz boys basketball team take down Coleman 88-60 in Thursday’s M&O Conference showdown.

    Werner finished his night with a season-high 30 points while Kurth collected a team-high 25 points for the Cougars.

    Thursday’s victory was Crivitz’s fourteenth straight M&O Conference win, its seventh in a row, and its nine in its last 10 games.

    Victor Kostreva had 13 points for Coleman.

    Kade Thoma chipped in 18 points for the Wolverines.

    ONEIDA, Wis. — Riding a big second half, the Oneida Nation boys basketball team upended Wausaukee 82-69 in Thursday’s M&O Conference clash.

    The two teams battled to a 35-35 deadlock at halftime but it was the Thunderhawks (10-6 M&O, 15-9 overall) that took control in the second half, outscoring the Rangers 47-34.

    Callahan Betts paced Wausaukee with a career-high 19 points. Kayden Suennen added 13 while Seth Kraemer was close behind with 11.

    Oneida Nation did not report any stats at press time.

    LENA — Mason Spice led the charge as the Lena boys basketball team erased a three-point halftime deficit to rally past Suring 42-39 in M&O Conference action on Thursday.

    Spice scored 11 of his game-high 17 points in the second half as the Wildcats overcame a 20-17 halftime lead by Suring to snap their 15-game losing streak.

    Michael Bailey finished with a team-high 12 points for the Eagles.

    GOODMAN — Kajetan Nowak’s career-high 18 points helped the Niagara boys vanquish Goodman/Pembine 56-42 in Thursday’s non-conference meeting.

    Thursday’s victory gives the Badgers their 16th win of the season, their most since going 19-8 overall in 2012-13.

    Tommy Martin backed up Nowak with 13 points. Gavin Neuens added nine while Cameron Schiefelbein had seven.

    Ryan Ehlert led all scorers with a game-high 22 points for the Patriots.
