UIS Men’s Basketball Receives NABC Team Academic Excellence Award
The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team was honored with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award. The Prairie Stars earned the award for the fourth time in five years. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Four Prairie Stars were also named to NABC Honors Court. DPS passes vote to ban phones district-wide
DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — The Decatur Public School Board of Education passed a vote that will institute a district-wide phone ban starting Aug. 12. The Board voted on an amended policy, in which high school students are no longer allowed to take their phones out of their lockers during lunch periods. Now, all students must keep their phones in their lockers or another locked receptacle provided by the school.
