NORTHERN MICHIGAN — Labor Day will usher in the fall season with some cooler than usual temperatures expected throughout the three-day weekend.

While Michigan weather likes to leave people guessing, visitors coming to Northern Michigan this weekend may see a mixed bag, getting a taste of both summer and fall.

Andy Sullivan, meteorologist at the Gaylord National Weather Service, said the region is in for nice weather this weekend. Saturday will be the warmest day, with temperatures reaching the 70s. There's no need to expect any scorching heat throughout the weekend.

There may be some showers Friday evening and maybe on Sunday, Sullivan added, but Saturday and Monday should be dry and sunny.

Sunday and Monday will bring in cooler temperatures, with the high temperature only expected to reach the 60s.

Sullivan said the expected temperatures are around 10 degrees cooler than average for this time of year.

The dry and sunny forecast bodes well for the Mackinac Bridge Walk , set to kick off at 7 a.m. on Monday. There may be a light breeze, but nothing too crazy is expected, Sullivan said.

"It should be a fairly nice weekend for everyone outside doing stuff," he said.
