Two area residents were charged after the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Highway 50 on Tuesday, July 23.

According to a probable cause statement, the department conducted the stop on a vehicle driven by Edward Roar, of Warrensburg, for cutting in on an overtaken lane and almost causing a collision. Law enforcement noticed suspicious activity from Roar and his passenger, identified as Holli White, of Eldon. Authorities requested permission to search the vehicle, which was denied by Roar.

A K9 unit was deployed, which alerted to the presence of a controlled substance in the vehicle.

Authorities located approximately 111 grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle during a probable cause search. Roar and White were placed under arrest and taken to the Pettis County Jail. Roar refused to speak with detectives, but White admitted that the purpose of their trip was to purchase and distribute the drugs to some friends.

Both Roar and White have been charged with felonies for trafficking drugs in the second degree. Bond was set at $150,000 cash or surety. No court dates have been set at this time.
