    Traffic stop leads to weapons arrest in Jefferson County

    PHILADELPHIA, N.Y. (WWTI) -A 43-year-old Alexandria Bay man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in the town of Philadelphia.

    Around 9 p.m. Monday, New York State Police based out of Watertown conducted a traffic stop on an F-150 Ford Truck that had an expired registration on Irish Ave in the town of Philadelphia.

    The operator, identified as Travis Wright was wanted by the Watertown Police Department for an active arrest warrant. An impound inventory search of the vehicle found two 30-round magazines and an AR rifle with no serial number.

    Wright was arrested for Criminal Possession of a Firearm, which is a class “E” felony) and two counts of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree. That charge is a class “D” felony.

    He was issued tickets for the following violations:

    • Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Inspection Certificate
    • Operating Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
    • Operating Unregistered Vehicle
    • Improper Plates
    • No License
    • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation Of A Motor Vehicle

    Wright was transported to state police headquarters in Watertown for processing and turned over to Watertown Police Department for his warrant charges.
