A seven-month-old baby was wounded by a bullet after his parents were targeted by a gunman .

The boy's parents were pushing him in a stroller along Meridian Street in Holmesburg, Philadelphia at 5:51 p.m. on Thursday. Footage shows a woman abruptly approached the pair, opened fire , and then left after the baby was struck in the leg by one of the bullets.

The woman with the gun nonchalantly turned around and shot the mother at close range after walking past her and the child. The gunman snarled, "F**k your baby, b***h," in response to the mother's horrifying cry, "my baby." The mother then started to walk away.

"When I find out the baby was seven months and both parents said they have warrants. They got out the car and I took the baby," he told NBC, I just felt like I had to protect this child. It was overwhelming. It was scary. This person came up and didn't care with no remorse and just fired and walked away like nothing happened."

The infant was subsequently taken by police to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where his condition is stable. Police discovered two expended round casings from a semi-automatic rifle, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.

"You can see what appears to be a male, possibly a female, long hair, possibly dreadlocks, wearing a dark t-shirt and light blue jeans and fire a shot in the direction of the mother and father," he said of the shooting footage.
