Jason Kelce has cemented himself as a Philadelphia icon, and suffice it to say he has his share of fans in other organizations around the city.

The Philadelphia Eagles legend officially called it a career this week, announcing his retirement in an emotional press conference Monday afternoon. He goes down as one of the most impactful Eagles in franchise history, having left his mark both on the field and in the locker room.

Kelce’s style of play and personality fit in perfectly in Philadelphia, which is what endeared him to fans and teammates alike over the last 13 seasons.

His impact is not lost on another star in the city, with Bryce Harper raving about Kelce on Thursday in an interview with 94WIP Afternoons from Phillies spring training.

“He’s one of the best to do it in the city of Philadelphia, obviously,” Harper said. “Winning a championship, doing what he did – I would say one of the top centers of all time at this point. Just his vibe, man, the way he goes about it, I love the flip flops. Everything is the same. It’s just him being him. He doesn’t change for anybody, and I think that’s the best thing, I think that’s why everybody loved him so much, he was just himself. He loved the city of Philadelphia, he understood the city of Philadelphia.

“He’s a winner, and he was a leader for that team, as well. I know it’s probably a pretty sad day for the Eagles and Philadelphia as a whole, just losing somebody who was so great and such a voice in that locker room. But I think he’s left a pretty dang good legacy, and I’d imagine he’d probably be a part of that team in a different (role). What an incredible person and incredible human being, and I wish him all the best away from the field.”
