Paul George is headed back to the Eastern Conference after agreeing to a monster four-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers worth $212 million, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Woj also reported that one of the figures who met with George prior to making his decision to take his talents to the City of Brotherly Love was no other than Dr. J himself, Julius Erving.

"George and his agent Aaron Mintz of CAA met with Sixers officials including owner Josh Harris, Daryl Morey, Elton Brand and legend Julius Erving in LA. PG agreed on a deal that includes a player option, sources said."

Erving is undoubtedly one of the most important Philly sports figures ever and his presence in the meeting must have resonated with George, whose tenure with the Los Angeles Clippers ends after five seasons.

The news of George going to the 76ers is easily the biggest head-turning move Philadelphia has made so far in the offseason, and it’s hard to imagine the team making one that will create louder noises. Apart from George, the 76ers have also agreed to deal with Andre Drummond, Eric Gordon, and Kelly Oubre.

The Sixers have their eyes on challenging the Boston Celtics in the East and the addition of George to their roster is a strong message sent to the reigning NBA champions.

In the 2023–24 NBA season, his last with the Clippers, George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field and posting a 56.9 effective field goal percentage.
