Paul George's Ungodly Hour Deal With 76ers Has Fans Asking Questions

NBA free agency has never been known to be a predictable process, and Paul George's signing with the Philadelphia 76ers only solidified that.

With an overwhelming majority of NBA fans likely asleep, it was reported that after five years with the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul George was signing with the 76ers . The move came just hours after fans learned that George was meeting with the Clippers, 76ers, and Orlando Magic during his free agency, and clearly his meeting with the 76ers which featured owner Josh Harris, Daryl Morey, Elton Brand, and NBA legend Julius Erving went well.

George's stint with the Clippers, which saw him team up with Kawhi Leonard didn't lead to much playoff success. The duo did make one Western Conference Finals appearance, but never returned. To add even more salt to the wound, the Clippers were bounced out of the playoffs in the first round in each of the last two years. As for the star pairing? They only played 181 games together in five years, which could lead to them going down as one of the more disappointing pairings in NBA history. Especially when you consider they added former MVP James Harden to the mix this past season.

While the move itself is one that can help decide the NBA Finals next season, fans seem more preoccupied with the timing of the deal. For those on the West Coast, the news broke around 12:30 p.m. while breaking at around 3:30 on the East Coast. There is a real possibility that most Clippers fans know before the 76ers fans who will likely be ecstatic about the news when they get up.

One fan wrote "At 3:30 AM LOL, wow." while another questioned , "Who signs contracts at 3:30 AM? Lol".

While the timing is a bit odd, for 76ers fans this will surely feel like Christmas in July, They may have their best chance at finally ending their 22-year-long finals drought.

George's deal is for four years and worth $212 million.
