Philadelphia police have released new surveillance video in the search for the suspect responsible for the deadly shooting of a 23-year-old man in West Philadelphia over the weekend.

Police identified the victim on Monday as William Shirley.

The shooting happened on Saturday on North 52nd Street in West Philadelphia just before 8 p.m.

New surveillance video released by police shows the 23-year-old victim standing on the sidewalk in front of a corner store just before a dark-colored midsized SUV pulls up.

Police say the shooter exited the vehicle, wearing a mask, dark pants, a black hoodie, blue gloves and white, and black sneakers.

Then, he pulled out a high-powered rifle, started shooting at the victim multiple times at close range, and then fled, according to police.

Homicide detectives believe that the victim was specifically targeted.

After the shooting, surveillance video shows people running from the scene as the victim lays in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 8 p.m., according to police.

There is still no motive for the shooting and no arrests have been made.

As authorities continue to search for the shooter, anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police.
