Kyle Lowry is re-signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, The Athletic’s Shams Charania announced on Thursday. View the contract details below.

    Kyle Lowry Re-Signs With 76ers

Lowry is signing a one-year contract to remain in Philadelphia, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Thursday.

Lowry began the 2023-2024 season as a member of the Miami Heat. In January 2024, Miami traded Lowry and a first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for Terry Rozier.

Lowry’s contract was bought out by the Hornets on February 11, 2024.

Two days later, Lowry signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. Lowry is a Philly native, having played at Villanova from 2004-2006.

Lowry made an instant impact for the 76ers, averaging 8.0 points and 4.6 assists in 23 regular season games.

Lowry started all six games in the 76ers opening-round loss to the New York Knicks.

76ers Building A Top Roster In The Eastern Conference

Lowry is the latest addition to a 76ers roster that has improved dramatically this offseason.

Philadelphia landed arguably the top free agent this offseason in Paul George. The versatile two-way wing signed a four-year, $212 million maximum contract.

Other key offseason acquisitions include Eric Gordon, Andre Drummond, and Caleb Martin.

Philadelphia also re-signed budding star Tyrese Maxey to a five-year, $204 million maximum contract. Philly also re-signed Kelly Oubre on a two-year, $16.3 million contract.

Injuries have plagued the 76ers in years past. Former MVP Joel Embiid has suffered multiple injuries over the last few seasons.

The 76ers have not reached the Conference Finals since 2000-2001.

If Embiid and the rest of the team can stay healthy, Philadelphia could be in the running to challenge Boston for the top team in the Eastern Conference.
