Insider Makes Bombshell Admission About Jalen Hurts' Perception Around The NFL

Comprised of feedback from several NFL executives, coaches and scouts, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler released his ranking of the top 10 quarterbacks for the 2024 season and there were a few notable omissions.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was one of them. And though he got an honorable mention in Fowler’s story, the insider stated during an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Monday morning that Hurts isn’t exactly viewed as an elite passer in league circles.

“I will point out that a lot of voters say even though he’s very good, he’s never going to be a top-five quarterback in the eyes of a lot evaluators,” Fowler stated . “They said he’s sort of in that 7-13 range, depending on how he does that year.”

Fowler’s admission is a bit surprising considering the three-year run Hurts has been on.

Just two seasons ago, he finished as the runner-up in MVP voting to Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes after a season in which he racked up 3,701 yards passing, 760 yards rushing and 35 total touchdowns while leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl.

Hurts was named to the Pro Bowl and was a Second Team All-Pro selection, and he signed a then-record $255 million contract extension.

However, despite putting up an equally impressive season in 2023 (3,858 yards passing, 605 yards rushing, 38 total touchdowns), Hurts threw a career-high 15 interceptions and his passer rating dropped nearly 12 points.

“The Eagles' offense ‘became stale’ as a whole [last season], according to a high-ranking NFL team official,” Fowler wrote. “And the predictable offensive attack affected Hurts' stock.”
