Vic Fangio responsible for Eagles' dramatic training camp shakeup

New defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has the Philadelphia Eagles going a little more old-school this summer.

The Eagles will abandon their more conservative, injury-preventing training camp schedule and instead move closer to league averages in those areas.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus , the Eagles will extend their time on the field compared to the previous summer. A lighter workload before the 2022 season played a role in the Super Bowl berth, but the team dialed that back even more before the 2023 season and had the infamous collapse after the 10-1 start.

For Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, the current task is simply finding the right balance.

"I think what's very important is that we don't overcorrect. There's a danger of overcorrecting in my eyes," Sirianni said, according to McManus. "You have to adapt. You have to evolve."

On one hand, a team implementing new coordinators and schemes on both sides of the football likely needs extra practice time. On the other, it’s perhaps the best example of the tightrope act teams must perform while trying to prep for a season with minimal wear and tear.
