The Philadelphia Eagles have a number of intriguing breakout candidates to watch in 2024.

Nolan Smith, the team’s first-round pick in 2023, though, might top the list.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder would agree, with Smith his pick while recently outlining every team's biggest breakout prediction.

Holder outlined the idea as so: “While the Eagles signed Bryce Huff to replace Haason Reddick this offseason, Huff has never been much of a run defender during his four-year career, creating an opportunity for Smith to earn a starting job this fall.”

Haason Reddick played 862 snaps last year to Smith’s 188, so there are certainly more chances to go around even after the arrival of Bryce Huff.

There’s a new scheme under the vision of coordinator Vic Fangio to consider, too. Tack on natural progression and development for Smith as reasons for this line of logic to make sense, too.

Smith breaking out would be aligning with the expectations set by his draft slotting, though the Eagles would find it hard to complain if the defense improves from last year.
