Philadelphia, PA – Edsaul Mendoza, a former Philadelphia police officer, was sentenced to 8 to 20 years in the shooting death of 12-year-old T.J. Siderio.

Mendoza pleaded guilty to third-degree murder back in April for the shooting that took place in March 2022.

Prosecutors said the 12-year-old boy was on the ground and unarmed when Mendoza fired the deadly shot.

Police shared that Siderio had fired first at an unmarked police car with four plain-clothes officers inside, injuring one.
