The Philadelphia 76ers are adding a veteran presence to their backcourt in free agency by signing Reggie Jackson.

Jackson, the 2023 NBA champion guard, most recently played with the Denver Nuggets in 2024. He averaged 10.2 points and 3.8 assists on 43.1% shooting as an established member of their second unit.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first broke the news, writing, “ESPN Sources: Veteran guard Reggie Jackson — who agreed on a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets — plans to join the Philadelphia 76ers upon clearing waivers.“

The Sixers’ backcourt is full of established talents, including Tyrese Maxey, Eric Gordon, Kelly Oubre Jr., Kyle Lowry, and now Jackson. It could be hard for Jackson to find sustainable playing time, but a chance at the second ring of his career was clearly too hard to pass up.

The former Nuggets guard has never been the most efficient shooter but provides tenacious defense and explosive runs on offense. He will likely fill the role Cameron Payne played with the 76ers last season.
