NFL Fans Roasting Jets Over Controversy With Big Offseason Signing

The New York Jets have a problem. They traded for Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Haason Reddick. On paper, it seems like a good trade. New York adds a premier edge rusher to their lineup.

There's one twist, though. Reddick requested a trade from the Eagles after a contract dispute. Now that he's with the Jets, Reddick is still without a new contract. It's not entirely surprising, then, that the star DE is holding out from practice as he awaits a contract.

Now, fans are clowning the Jets for their decision to trade for Reddick. Many chastised the team for trading for a star seeking a new contract... and then not give him that deal.

"Lesson: Don’t trade for someone who has been outspoken about wanting a new contract and then not pay them," @DadBodBret said.

"Joe Douglas masterclass," @Ferd_Turgeson joked, referring to the Jets GM.

Reddick was a premier play on the Eagles' vaunted defensive line. After not securing a new deal with Philly, the star decided to ask for a trade. The Eagles got a second-round pick from the Jets to offload the DE.

It will certainly be interesting to see how this situation pans out for the Jets. You'd hope that they would have signed Reddick by now... but here we are.
