Ex-First Round Pick Threw Up 10 Times on Day 1 of NFL Training Camp

Offensive lineman Mekhi Becton, who was the No. 11 overall selection in the 2020 NFL draft, expects to compete for a starting job on the Philadelphia Eagles offensive line during training camp. And apparently he's not going to let a tough first day of training camp hurt his chances of earning a starting role.

    That includes vomiting repeatedly.

The Score's Brenden Deeg reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Becton threw up 10 times on the first day of training camp, yet he didn't ever leave the field.

"Mekhi Becton puked 10 times at camp and was back out the very next play," wrote Deeg.

The New York Jets drafted the 6-foot-7, 360-pound offensive lineman with their first-round pick in 2020. At the time, the Jets viewed Becton as their franchise left tackle.

Becton started 13 games as a rookie, but he only appeared in one contest from 2021-22 because of injuries. He returned last season but was unimpressive, and the Jets didn't re-sign the former first-rounder.

As Deeg indicated, Becton could start at right guard for the Eagles. But he'll likely need better conditioning. Although the Eagles practiced in high humidity to open camp, the temperature was in the low 80s .

Fans on X were not overly impressed that Becton couldn't make it through Philadelphia's first practice without getting sick.

Becton will likely compete with Tyler Steen for the starting role at right guard. Veteran Matt Hennessy could also be involved in the competition.
