Phillies interested in Cubs All-Star outfielder 'who could move', per insider

The Philadelphia Phillies are intent on trading for a righty hitter before the deadline, preferably in the form of an outfielder.

The Phillies have been linked to virtually every big-name outfielder on the market, and everyone knows that general manager Dave Dombrowski is fully capable of pulling off a deal for any player in Major League Baseball.

Interestingly, Dombrowski's Phillies are now even being linked to players who were previously labeled as untouchable.

Consider Ian Happ of the Chicago Cubs, a switch-hitting monster who was reportedly taken off the trading block in July by Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer.

As of Thursday, Happ was being mentioned in connection to the Phillies by New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"The Phillies seek a righty-hitting OF," Heyman said. "Tommy Pham is on their list. Ward, Kevin Pillar, Lane Thomas, Mark Canha and Brent Rooker are other righty OFs who could move, and switch-hitter Ian Happ."

Very few franchises in Major League Baseball can turn previously unattainable players into moveable assets, but the Phillies are apparently one of them.

If Dombrowski can somehow find a way to add Happ to a Philadelphia lineup already brimming with power, the rest of MLB will be in deep trouble.
