Philadelphia Eagles projected starting right guard Tyler Steen left Saturday's practice with a mild ankle injury.

According to multiple reports, Steen was able to walk off the field on his own, but he is expected to miss some time as he recovers.

Steen has been taking a majority of the first-team reps at right guard since Jason Kelce retired and Cam Jurgens was moved to center .

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed Steen's injury on Monday and the plan moving forward without Steen.

Sirianni said Mekhi Becton , who has been working with the second-team offense, will slide into first-team reps.

"Yeah, he's going to get some work in there today," Sirianni said of Becton before Monday's practice. "I'm looking forward to that. Mekhi has had a good camp so far and looking forward to getting him some work next to Lane (Johnson). And continuing to work forward with that. As bummed as we are that Steen's going to be out for a little bit -- and again not giving a timeline there, shouldn't be something that's long -- it gives other people some opportunities to work and Mekhi will be one of those guys."

Becton, 6-foot-7, 363 pounds, came to Philly on a one-year deal back in April.

Before joining the Eagles, he was initially an 11th overall pick out of Louisville by the New Jets in the 2020 NFL Draft where he played strictly at offensive tackle.

The Eagles, however, have been taking full advantage of his size and cross-trained him at multiple positions through spring training. Not only has Becton taken reps with the left and right offensive tackle spots, but he has also gotten looks at right guard -- a position he's never played before.

So far, Becton has looked solid everywhere he's lined up and will now benefit from getting even more looks at guard while Steen deals with his ankle injury.
