Philadelphia Eagles fans have many reasons to be excited for this upcoming season and watching rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell do his thing should be on the top of the list.

The Eagles' 2024 first-round pick has made himself a star already in just a few short weeks and according to the latest reports rolling in from training camp, he's even embarrassing A.J. Brown during some of the 1-vs-1 reps.

Mitchell has also added some dramatic element to his game, talking smack and staring Brown down every time he wins.

Beating out Brown at practice has been Mitchell's daily goal since he got to Philly.

"Every day I come out against A.J., I just try and compete,” Mitchell told reports after Day 5 of training camp. “He's one of the best in the game, so I know I'm getting good work. Every chance I get to go against him, I'll just go out and compete and try to raise the bar.”

As for the trash talk that goes on between the two, Mitchell wouldn't get into it.

“I'm gonna just keep it between me and him,” said Mitchell. “We gonna compete and we gonna talk trash all day.”

Vic Fangio Impressed with Mitchell's Versatility

There's a real chance that fans could see Mitchell opposite Darius Slay this season. It helps his case further knowing that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has liked what he's seen from the rookie corner so far.

“He's a talented guy, he's smart, has a good football feel,” Fangio told reporters last week. “All of that really is more than I thought he had just from watching the college tape, so that's been a plus.”

The Eagles had plans for second-round pick cornerback Cooper DeJean to handle the slot, but with his injury keeping him away from camp practice , they've been leaning on Mitchell to fill that void too.

And Mitchell is handling it well.

“I think he's a guy we can move around anywhere in the coverage part,” Fangio said. We just tried it,” said Fangio. “We just put him in there and tried it and it looked fine.”

No matter where Mitchell lines up, as long as he keeps up with Brown -- one of the best wideouts in the league-- the Eagles will have an obvious starting cornerback on their hands come Week 1 in Brazil.
